Tools and Materials Needed:



* Screwdriver

Step 1 - Inspect the Door



If your chest freezer door does not shut properly, it could cause the temperature inside the freezer to rise, making the thermostat work overtime to correct the problem and eventually burn out. Another issue is if the door does not shut correctly it no longer depresses the internal light switch, causing the light to remain on and heating the freezer that way.



If the door is askew, you will need to replace its hinges. If the door alignment is fine then inspect the light switch.
