Dangers Associated With Dirty Furnace Filters
Like most air conditioning and heating equipment, gas furnaces and oil furnaces are both designed to work with a certain amount of airflow, meaning that this airflow is vital for the furnace to operate not only at the highest efficiency possible but also to operate properly in general. The amount of airflow is traditionally measured in CFM, which stands for Cubic Feet per Minute. The quality of your furnace filter plays a part in how this entire process works. A heat exchanger exists in these appliances which contains a flame, and the necessary airflow is responsible for passing over the heat exchanger on the outside, picking up some heat from the flame on the inside of the heat exchanger in the process. If a furnace filter has remained in the system for so long that airflow is impacted, you could be looking at a dangerous situation.
This is why changing out your furnace filters is so important: As the amount of airflow traveling over the heat exchanger begins to decline, the operating temperature for the heat exchanger will begin to increase. Heat exchangers are built to withstand a lot of heat, but they can crack if the heat becomes too much for them while exceeding the conditions for which they were designed. The head exchanger can expand as it becomes hotter, and then contract during the off cycle of the process. All of this expanding and contracting can cause cracks and warps in the metal of the heat exchanger, which can allow for combustion gases to mix themselves with the oxygen in your home.
This is the good news: A properly designed furnace will have a high limit switch, which can prevent the excessive heating of your head exchanger. These limit switches are typically capable of monitoring the temperature either at the source of the heat exchanger or near it. If the temperature should happen to reach a specific, predetermined point, the unit will automatically shut itself off until it is reset manually.
Furnaces do seem capable of operating for a good long time based on these automatic reset limit switches. This just means that the furnace is operating based on the limits of its design. Most furnaces will not operate until they are serviced following one of these shut offs, meaning the furnace will not run until the problem is corrected. Still, there are some furnaces that will turn back on when the temperature of the unit has cooled considerably.
You should not rely solely on the safety switch to protect yourself from a potential disaster, because mechanical devices are capable of failing no matter how safe they appear to be. One of the best ways to reduce your risk of such a disaster is to maintain your furnace filters properly based on the provisions set forth by the manufacturer. This will probably include cleaning the furnace filter or changing it regularly based on manufacturer guidelines and common sense.

Dyson Vacuum Cleaner - One of the Most Effective Vacuums
pick half of the dust from your carpet? If you need a vacuum that will do the
job properly a Dyson vacuum cleaner might be the right thing for you. Find out
what are the advantage of Dyson over other vacuum cleaners and if it will work
for your home.
When it comes to vacuum cleaners you are faced with many choices. You have
to choose between Kirby, Eureka, Hoover, Dyson and many other brands. But Dyson
vacuums leave most of the competition behind.
Advantages of Having a Dyson Vacuum Cleaner
- It is bagless and easy to use and clean
- HEPA filters guarantee that no dust gets back to your room
- provides extended warranty on your vacuum cleaner and all its parts
- has exceptionally strong suction, vacuum doesn't clog
- Good for cleaning carpet of cat's and dog's hair
How Does It Work?
Dyson has patented a new technology called Root Cyclone. It allows spinning
the air at very high speed. The result is a very strong suction, which makes
your vacuuming fast and effective.
Dyson vacuum cleaner uses three step processes. First all dust goes through
a filter that sends it to the bin. Larger pieces are caught there, the shroud
separates fluff and hair and the root spins fine dust at a high speed. This
prevents clogging and helps your vacuum maintain an incredible suction power.
Most Dyson vacuums are upright bagless models. Not having a bag is very useful
- no need for you to clean or replace it every time after vacuuming. When you
are done just empty the clear plastic bin where all dust is collected.
Selecting Your Dyson Vacuum Cleaner
There are several models of Dyson vacuum cleaners for you to choose from. While
all of them have excellent suction and do a good job cleaning your carpet, you
should take your time comparing different models to find the one that is perfect
for your place. If you are looking for a simple vacuum cleaner, basic models
like Dyson DC 07 or Dyson DC 14 are a good choice.
If you have pets that leave their fur on your carpet, you will need a more
elaborate model. Look for models with animal HEPA filter. Good examples are
Dyson DC 17 Absolute or Dyson DC15 Best Animal Ball. Both collect all pet hair
leaving your carpet absolutely clean.
Dyson vacuum cleaners are very popular and finding the one you like will not
be a problem. Local vacuum cleaner stores should have them. But you can find
a better price if you get your vacuum cleaner online. There are many retailers
that sell discounted Home Appliances. And the best part - you can compare prices
at several online shops without leaving your room.
How Much Would A Dyson Vacuum Cost Me?
Dyson vacuums are not the cheapest vacuum cleaners around. Depending on the
model, be prepared to pay from 300 to 600 dollars for your vacuum cleaner. It
sounds pretty steep, but bear in mind that you are not just buying a home appliance.
A good vacuum is a necessity for every home; it keeps your carpet clean and
your family healthy. Cheap vacuum cleaners usually distribute half of the collected
dust back to the air. Dyson will not do that.
Also Dyson usually offer 5 years warranty. So you can expect your vacuum cleaner
to serve you for at least 5 years. A word of caution - if your vacuum cleaner
is broken don't try to repair it yourself. They can refuse to fix it under warranty
it you interfered with the mechanism.
To conclude, if you are looking for a vacuum that is easy to use and will clean
your house effectively; Dyson vacuum cleaner is a good choice. It will definitely
justify its cost by making cleaning an easy job.

Shipping A Full Container Load (FCL)
There are primarily three sizes of containers to consider when shipping your household goods as an FCL (Full Container Load): 20’ Standard (STD), 40’ Standard (STD), and 40’ High Cube (HC). The standard sizes have identical width and height dimensions and are differentiated by their length. The 40’High Cube has the same width and length of the 40’STD but has an additional foot of height. The 20’STD holds a maximum volume of 1,172 cubic feet, the 40’STD holds a maximum volume of 2,390 cubic feet, and the 40’HC holds a maximum volume of 2,694 CFT.
IMPORTANT NOTE: THE MAXIMUM VOLUMES ARE ACHIEVED WHEN FILLING THE CONTAINER WITH AIR/WATER/SAND OR SOME OTHER MEDIUM THAT LEAVES ZERO DEADSPACE. HOUSEHOLD GOODS SHIPMENTS WILL NEVER REACH THESE MAXIMUMS.
One of the biggest advantages to shipping your goods as an FCL is the exclusivity that this shipping method offers. In a Less then Container Load (LCL) shipment, your shipment will be consolidated with other smaller shipments (and not necessarily Household Goods shipments) in order to make up a full container. With an FCL, your shipment will be the ONLY cargo in the container. FCL shipments also offer a higher level of security and a decreased chance of damage as there is less handling of your shipment.
There are two schools of thought when it comes to loading your household goods into a container: loading at residence and loading at a warehouse.
Like a majority of shippers, the “loading at residence” option instantly jumps out as the more appealing option. With this method, you are able to see your household goods loaded into the container and watch the seal be placed on it before it returns back to the port. While this is a valid point, it leaves out many other important factors and potential extra costs. First and foremost, this practice is actively discouraged by a majority of the major ship lines. They will have stipulations in their contract rates that Household Goods shipments from Door (residence) are not allowed.
Second, many of the trucking companies that have authorization to pull containers from a port will not deliver them to a residence due to insurance restrictions. Also, most residential loads are “live loads” as there is no space to “drop” and leave the container. Depending on the trucker, they will allow 1-2 hours of “free time” to load the container before charging hourly detention charges for waiting. Furthermore, if a loading team will have to wait an extended period of time for a trucker to arrive with the container, they will have extra charges for the wasted time. Therefore, the loading hinges on seamless coordination between the loading party and trucker with zero tolerance for unexpected events like: traffic delays, port congestion creating delays in pulling the container at port, mechanical breakdown, flat tire, etc. The list could go on and on, and the ramifications of even a minor glitch could increase the costs of your move.
Loading at a warehouse actually turns out to be a much safer and smarter option. On the day of your move, a pick up team will arrive with a truck at a designated time, have the ability to carefully pick up your shipment without being “under the gun” to load within an hour or two, and leave when the job is complete. There is no wait time or coordination with multiple parties. Your household goods will then be transported back to a warehouse and unloaded from the truck.
When it is time to load your shipment into the container, the trucker will bring the container from the port to the warehouse and drop the container at the warehouse’s loading dock. The loading team at the warehouse can take additional time to carefully load your shipment, block and brace, and secure your shipment in the container. When the loading team at the warehouse is finished, your international movers will close the container and place a seal on it.
The trucker will then be able to come to the warehouse, pick up the loaded container, and deliver it back to port. This loading method has an extra step of handling, but it allows for greater control of the handling of the cargo and greater allowance to handle unforeseen circumstances without creating additional costs to you.

Tips to Replace Sugar in Your Baked Goods
In most cases, when it comes to sugar and cooking, it is not difficult to substitute other, safer sweeteners for sugar. However, when it comes to baking, many recipes depend on sugar for more than just the sweetness factor. For instance, baking cakes, cookies and certain breads depend on the sugar to help them cook properly. In cakes, sugar is part of the reason that they rise so delicately high. In cookies, it is the sugar that helps them spread out so perfectly on the baking sheet. Those delicious candies that you love has to rely on the way sugar melts during the combining process that results in their sticky texture. Yeast-raised breads need sugar to start the reaction that causes the bread to rise. Although these delectable delights rely on the multiple qualities of sugar, below are some tips that can help you to properly replace sugar in some of your favorite treats.
Use Splenda Sugar Substitute Instead of Sugar for Sweetening
There are many sugar substitutes on the market however, Splenda is the one that is most often recommended for baking and cooking. Unlike Aspartame, Sucralose, which is the main ingredient and sweetener in Splenda, is heat-stable. This simply means that Splenda does not lose its sweetness when it is baked or cooked, making it the ideal choice for sweetening any mouth-watering baked desserts from puddings to cheesecakes and more. In addition, the Splenda granulated sugar substitute is designed to measure just like sugar. One cup of Splenda has the same sweetening power as one cup of sugar, making substitutions extremely easy.
Special Tips for Using Splenda in Baking
While Splenda sweetens just like sugar, it is important to note that it does not behave chemically like sugar does in certain recipes. The creators of Splenda offer certain helpful tips for replacing sugar with Splenda in baked recipes.
For bread and yeast based recipes you want to keep at least two tablespoons of regular sugar in the recipe to activate yeast. You can replace the rest of the sugar that the recipe calls for with Splenda.
For angel cake, pound cake, fudge and pecan pies, you only need to replace about one-quarter the amount of sugar called for in the recipe. Those recipes rely on sugar for their texture and if you reduce it too much, the items will not set up properly. You will still reduce the sugar by twenty five percent while still retaining all of the flavor.
For certain cakes and quick breads, replace the nine-inch pan with an eight-inch pan to maximize the rise of the dessert. You will also get a higher rise if you add a half of a cup of non-fat dry milk powder and a half of a teaspoon of baking soda for every cup of Splenda that you use. You can also add one envelope of Dream Whip to the recipe for added moisture and rise.
For crunchy or crisp cookies, try replacing only the white sugar with Splenda and leaving the brown sugar as is. Splenda also makes Splenda Sugar Blend and Splenda Brown Sugar Blend, which mixes sugar with Splenda so that you can reduce the calories and carbohydrates in your recipes by half, while still maintaining the right texture, browning and rise from your baking recipes.
Sweeten Recipes with Fruit Purees and Fruit Juices
Many recipes can be sweetened naturally with fruit purees and fruit juices. Applesauce is one of the most common fruit purees used to add both sweetness and moisture to quick breads and cakes. Fruit juice concentrate is another excellent sugar substitute. White grape juice concentrate, apple juice concentrate and orange juice concentrate can all be used in place of sugar. For every cup of sugar called for in the recipe, use a quarter cup of fruit juice concentrate and reduce the liquid in the recipe by three tablespoons.
Use Honey to Sweeten Breads and Baked Goods
Honey often tastes sweeter on the tongue than sugar does, so you need less of it to get the same sweetness. Honey also browns and liquefies when heated, though not exactly the same way that sugar does. Honey tends to brown more quickly than sugar, and makes baked goods moister and denser. For every cup of sugar called for in the recipe, use three quarters of a cup plus one tablespoon of honey and reduce the liquid in the recipe by two tablespoons. Add a pinch of baking soda to take off the acid edge.
Learning to bake without sugar or with reduced sugar takes a bit of time and effort, but the effort pays off in baked goods and desserts that are as nutritious as they are delicious.
