Golf - What You Need To Play

I would like to offer some tips on equipment purchase and what would be required to get started playing golf. Beside club purchase, there are additional items necessary to prepare yourself for play. The next most obvious items are a golf bag and golf balls. If you are purchasing a starter set of clubs many come with a golf bag included. If you like to walk and enjoy a little workout as you play there are carry bags, which are light weight and are slung over your shoulders. There are other bag options for you to choose from and I would suggest that you speak to the sales representative in your local pro shop or golf store (ie; Dick's Sporting Goods and Golfsmith would provide this service) and ask him to explain the different types and price range to best suit your needs. Golf balls can also vary dramatically in price - from about $9.99 /dozen to $45.99 for the best balls on the market - Titleist Pro V and Pro V1x.

As a beginner I would recommend that you buy the more economically priced balls. The difference in performance will be negligible and you will have a tendency to lose more balls as a novice so why waste money? As you improve, you can always upgrade the type of ball that you use - I would recommend purchasing about two dozen balls to get started. There are also different compression golf balls made. 80, 90 and 100. The compression selected is directly proportionate to how fast you swing and your golf mechanics. I will not elaborate on this right now but an 80 or 90 compression ball should be more than adequate for now. If you have some power and a fairly quick swing, I would opt for the 90 which may give you a bit more distance. NOTE: The professionals and low handicap players use the higher compression balls because their impact speed and swing mechanics will allow the ball to compress properly, thus attaining the maximum result in distance. Some other equipment I would strongly recommend would be as follows:

A golf towel, golf shoes ( though not absolutely necessary it will assist with stability as you swing), Golf tees ( Note: there are different height golf tees made for different drivers, woods and irons - I would recommend that you pick up an assortment of sizes - 2 1/8" for woods and irons & 2 3/4" or 3 1/4" for Drivers depending on type and size. Check with golf pro or sales person for recommendations if not sure), a golf glove ( not required but it will give you a definite advantage in gripping and holding the club more effectively), ball markers ( used on the green to mark your ball so you will not to block the path of your fellow player - a rule of golf etiquette), and a divot repair tool ( used to repair the indentation made in the green when the golf ball lands - one of the rules of etiquette to be addressed in a future writing ). Although not required to play golf, you may want to consider packing the following ancillary items : Band-aids, sunscreen and insect repellent. You never know when you may need them and it's better to be prepared to allow for maximum comfort while you play. I think we've covered most of the essentials and if you have any questions please feel free to submit them to me. Now you've got the Desire, you've got your equipment, next step is to learn how to play- "The Right Way".

There are a number of different options available to learn how to play golf. You can self teach ( read books and watch instructional videos), ask a relative or friend who knows how to play to teach you, if you are in a high school or college that offers a golf program - enroll in the program, take lessons from the golf pro at your local driving range, take golf lessons from the professional at your local golf course, golf store, private club or pro shop or enroll in a golf school. The method you choose can greatly effect your results so be sure to make the right decision for you.

Where Do The Rich Colours Of Autumn Come From ?

Here in England, Autumn is now definitely upon us. Whilst the days have been beautifully warm and mellow, the nights feel cold and damp, and the evenings are drawing in, becoming darker earlier and earlier Although perhaps not as spectacular as a New England Fall, Autumn in Great Britain is beautiful, colourful and special The rich and vibrant hues of bright purple, flame red, brilliant orange, gold and yellow produce a blaze of fire through Halloween and Bonfire Night until late into Autumn and the onset of winter.

Have you ever stopped to wonder what causes this magnificent display?

The answer lies in the physiology of plants and trees.

The change in colour from the lush green leaves of summer to the rich autumnal colours is caused by the cessation in production of food or chlorophyll.

Leaves owe their green colour to the presence of chlorophyll. As the level of chlorophyll drops, other pigments already present in the leaf are revealed. Although photosynthesis has slowed down, sugars are still being produced but the lower temperatures also result in their transport around the plant becoming slower.

These sugars are converted into anthocyanins wnich cause the vivid bronze and red colours. Anthocyanin production is increased by light,so the clearer, bright days of autumn together with the slowing down of the plant's transport system leads to an accumulation of anthocyanin in the leaf. We see the effect of this in the vivid rich autumn leaf display. The cold but frost-free nights of Autumn enhance this intense foliage colour by delaying leaf fall and so reducing the rate of loss of sugar removal along with the leaf. More sugar in the leaf means more anthocyanin produced and more red brown colours.

As well as admiring the beauty of Autumn, we gardeners have lots of practical work to do in the garden. It is a busy time. The gardening we do now in the mellow Fall conditions will pay dividends later. For a useful guide on which gardening tasks should be done in autumn, please visit Busy Gardening http://busygardening.com.

How to Repair a Chest Freezer that Runs Continuously

If you have a chest freezer that runs continuously, you will have to look a little deeper into solving the problem. Chest freezers work in cycles. If your appliance doesn't turn off, you could run the risk of it malfunctioning altogether. Follow these easy steps to repair your chest freezer if it is running continuously.

You Will Need:

* Hinges

* Light Switch

* Screwdriver

* Multi-tester

Step 1 - Test the Circulating Fan

First, check the fan that helps circulate cool air around the freezer. Sometimes, the fan can malfunction and this can lead to constant loud noises. If your freezer doesn't seem to stop making unusual noises, the circulating fan could well be the problem.

To test the circulating fan, open the chest freezer and hold down the switch that is normally depressed by the door. If the noise gets louder than when door is open, you will know the fan motor is faulty. Unfortunately, you cannot repair these motors and you will have to call a professional to replace it.

Step 2 - Inspect the Door and Light Switch

The temperature inside your chest freezer may be high, resulting in it needing to cool itself constantly because the internal light is not shutting off when the door is closed. First, look at the door and make sure that when it is shut, it is properly depressing the light switch. If the door or its hinges are damaged, you may have to re-hang the door so that it depresses the switch and shuts off the light.

If the door seems fine, you may need to replace your light switch. Simply pry the old switch away from the side of the freezer and disconnect the wires before connecting your new switch to finish the installation.

Step 3 - Check the Thermostat

If the thermostat is broken, it will constantly think that it needs to cool the chest freezer even though it does not. To inspect the thermostat, remove the side access panel using your screwdriver. The thermostat is attached to the side of the freezer by two screws and a long tube. Do not remove the tube from the thermostat but free the unit from the freezer wall. Next, set your multi-tester to the range scale on R x 1 to test for continuity.

If the connection is complete, everything should be working fine. If the connection is open, this means the thermostat is broken. When the thermostat is off, your multi-tester should read no continuity but when the thermostat is on, the tester should read continuity. If the tester does not read continuity, you will have to install a new thermostat.

Step 4 - Replacing the Thermostat

First, unplug the chest freezer from the wall and remove the tube from the faulty thermostat housing. Take your new thermostat and connect the tube to it in the same place where you removed the tube from the original part. Screw the new thermostat into place and test out the new unit. Make sure that the tube that connects the thermostat with the chest freezer is straight and not knotted, kinked or coiled. This will prevent the thermostat from working properly.

Unfortunately this kind of device, created by your dentist, can be quite expensive.

The good news is that there is an alternative for those who don’t have the money for such a “personal device”. Everything you ever wanted to know about Anonimo Italian made Watches

Anonimo was founded in Florence, Italy in 1997 by respected designer and entrepreneur Federico Massacesi who had already gained many year's experience in the field of Luxury Goods for Salvatore Ferragamo SpA. His vision was to create an enterprise specializing in the production of unique Italian timepieces focused on staying true to Florentine watch making tradition. He accepted the challenge therefore to be known worldwide as the most important Italian Company producing high quality mechanical timepieces. Events conspired to set the stage for the realisation of this aim. The takeover by an international group caused a famous Florentine watchmaking house to uproot and move abroad, thus leaving an elite and established team of veteran watchmakers wishing to continue their watchmaking tradition in Florence. Happily this wealth of Florentine watchmaking experience joined forces with Federico Massacesi to form the cornerstone on which Anonimo's success was built.

Why Anonimo? The name has not been chosen by chance, even if it has given rise to both curiosity and interest. The name Anonimo, the Italian word for anonymous, was born out of a fundamental philosophy of the Company. This philosophy is based on the principle that the watches are not about us they are about the individual who wears them and are a testimony to and an expression of the personality of the wearer. They are an expression of the values and principles which are inseparable from those of the Company:

Honesty:
every commercial business and human process is based on principles of absolute honesty. Anonimo will continue to deliver to its customers the ongoing support and integrity required to uphold each relationship.

Originality:
Technological creativity and originality distinguish every Anonimo product, they are the result of focused research and long term investment, aimed at building a cultural and technological reputation which will continue to set Anonimo watches apart from all others.

Essentials:
this is the inspiring principle of the Anonimo vision and its absolute conviction. In the creation of our watches, anything that is unnecessary is eliminated, practical features are of paramount importance, resulting in a watch with an unequaled quality-to-value ratio.

Excellence:
is quality above everything, from components, to the most superior materials with suppliers whom are totally in tune with our mission. Our craftsmen and watchmakers complement our total commitment to exceptional strength and value in our timepieces.

Teamwork:
Anonimo is firmly dedicated to teamwork creating winning synergies and strengthening values. This philosophy begins with our founder and team members and is a vital part of the commitment by and between our strategic suppliers and distributor partners worldwide.

On the basis of his principles, Anonimo has created the watch line "Opera Meccana" which is primarily a precise concept rather than a simple and concise statement. "Opera" is related to the Latin "opus-operis" in order to remind the spirit of craftsmanship which has been influencing our land and culture for so many centuries. "Opera" also refers to the idea of musical harmony which is a universal concept shared worldwide.

"Meccana" is the fusion of the two words "Meccanica" and "Arcana" which mean respectively "mechanical" and "mysterious" and it refers to those treatises of alchemy and esoteric philosophy that were called "Opera Arcana " in the Middle Ages. Anonimo wanted to espouse these concepts with the conviction that watches are miracles of perfect mechanics and craftsmanship and therefore created the "Opera Meccana" collection, faithful to the great Florentine tradition in precision mechanics and watch making.

Anonimo watches are strictly mechanical and manufactured in high quality stainless steel. Our technical skills, the culmination of many years experience, have resulted in the realization of the exclusive stainless steel AISI316 watch cases and in their unique artisan finishing technique. In our laboratories in Florence, Anonimo use state of the art instruments and computers that allow us to implement in house design and production plans of our watches. AutoCAD drawing systems coupled with our unique and proven scheduling system allows us to maximize production and talents of our watchmakers by taking advantage of technology.

Anonimo is also privileged to be one of a select few of Italian watch firms to be authorized by ETA to use a series of master complication movements. We also successfully collaborated with Dubois Depraz SA which is one of the most important Swiss companies specialising in high quality mechanical movements, chronographs and complications, resulting in the realization of the caliber 2035 for the chronograph Militare Crono.

Thanks to this synergy and also upon Anonimo specifications, the position of the supplementary chronograph module has been modified and rotated in relation to the automatic movement. In this way we could maintain the crown at 6, as for the model 2004 Militare, and move the chronograph push-buttons on the left hand side of the watch for a greater protection. This innovative position allows operation of the chronograph functions in an easy and secure way with only the use of the thumb and it also allows location of the chronograph counters in the unusual but immediately legible part of the dial.

Because of our professional industrial diving exposure, Anonimo was provided the opportunity to participate in an exceptional diving test with the I.N.G.V. Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia di Roma, (I.N.G.V. is one of the most important and famous European Research Institution in the field of geophysical and seismological researches) in conjunction with C.N.S professional divers in 2001, after extensive testing of the Millemetri diving watch in the China sea. The Geostar project, one of the many experiments coordinated by the I.N.G.V., with important Italian, French and German partners, is a scientific and technological project aimed at the development of an innovative deep sea benthic observatory devoted to continuous long-term geophysical, oceanographic and geochemical observations for a better comprehension of the Earth's internal structure and Geodynamics. This Geostar operation featured the submersion of a SN-1 underwater deep sea robotic module, off the coast of Augusta, Sicily, October 9, 2002, including two Anonimo Millemetri that were attached and submersed to a depth of 2100 meters on this radio controlled vehicle. Millemetri designed and built to work up to 100 atm (1000 meters) brilliantly surpassed its intended capability beyond 100% of its waterproof capability and proved to be fully up to this challenge of this depth and beyond. This successful submersion has been officially certified by Dr. Paolo Favali, in charge of the deep Sea Activities for the I.N.G.V. Anonimo wanted to celebrate this event issuing a special edition of the model Millemetri, the TRILOGEO set (70 caskets, 210 pieces), whose elegant box contains three watches Millemetri with black, orange and yellow dial. On their case back Anonimo engraved the date of the performance and the depth achieved.

In its constant research and innovation, Anonimo holds exclusive international patents: the Kodiak process, The Crown Vanishing Locking Device applied to the Militare models, the U-Lock system and the revolutionary push-buttons applied to the Professionale Crono 6002.

The Kodiak Process:
Leather is rarely resistant to water, particularly when the salt content is considerable. Current waterproofing treatments reduce leather porosity and compromise the transpiration properties. The exclusive Anonimo Kodiak Process allows leather to maintain unchanged its features of porosity and transpiration whilst allowing our straps to be worn in water without damaging the leather. It does not make the leather simply water-repellent but allows hydrols to pass through even after a long lasting immersion affording our straps a positive experience when worn in water. This capability completes the ability of our watches to link fashion with function. The Crown Vanishing Locking Device: The Anonimo patented system, exclusive on the serie of the models Militare, allows for innovative water resistant and crown protection security, whilst providing a unique and functional crown- winding and time- setting apparatus. This particular locking device also resolved the aesthetical and functional disadvantages due to the current crown locking tools and to their lateral encumbrance.

U-Lock System:
Anonimo is proud of the innovative locking system, exclusive to the Professionale models watch case, highlighting the importance that waterproof concepts and functions contribute to our philosophy. Industry recognition provided Anonimo the opportunity to be chosen to develop a professional relationship with one of the most important deep-sea diving industrial companies in the world, C.N.S. Cooperativa Nazionale Sommozzatori. C.N.S. experienced divers and diving supervisors have spent more than 20 years on many of the most significant industrial diving challenges and has faced an endless sequence of challenging projects at various water depths in many countries around the world. Thanks to the extensive research and input by C.N.S. professionals Anonimo has been charged with the opportunity to implement radical changes and to create features for an enhanced diving watch that has never been available to professional divers, before according to C.N.S. The Anonimo Professionale models feature an extreme strength oversized watch case, ergonomically finished with an advanced locking waterproof system which alleviates torsion on the O-Rings, and is easily repaired in emergency conditions without special tools. The system exclusively operates with great dimension screws and bars that allow the watchcase to open or be released without the watch movement needing to be removed. The locking system of the bezel and back cover works with external female tread bars, easily replaceable, and connected to the back cover, on rotation hinges at h. 9.00.
Professionale Crono Push Buttons:

In 2006 Anonimo also introduced the Professionale Crono, a mechanical chronograph featuring a revolutionary couple of push buttons, conceived and designed in collaboration with Boninchi, one of the great industry of watch components. Anonimo is in the process of receiving a patent for their innovative watertight system which prevents not only unintentional chronograph operation, but most of all it assures their waterproof unlike the traditional buttons.

Factors Affecting Consumer Behavior

Consumer behavior refers to the selection, purchase and consumption of goods and services for the satisfaction of their wants. There are different processes involved in the consumer behavior. Initially the consumer tries to find what commodities he would like to consume, then he selects only those commodities that promise greater utility. After selecting the commodities, the consumer makes an estimate of the available money which he can spend. Lastly, the consumer analyzes the prevailing prices of commodities and takes the decision about the commodities he should consume. Meanwhile, there are various other factors influencing the purchases of consumer such as social, cultural, personal and psychological. The explanation of these factors is given below.
1. Cultural Factors
Consumer behavior is deeply influenced by cultural factors such as: buyer culture, subculture, and social class.
• Culture
Basically, culture is the part of every society and is the important cause of person wants and behavior. The influence of culture on buying behavior varies from country to country therefore marketers have to be very careful in analyzing the culture of different groups, regions or even countries.
• Subculture
Each culture contains different subcultures such as religions, nationalities, geographic regions, racial groups etc. Marketers can use these groups by segmenting the market into various small portions. For example marketers can design products according to the needs of a particular geographic group.
• Social Class
Every society possesses some form of social class which is important to the marketers because the buying behavior of people in a given social class is similar. In this way marketing activities could be tailored according to different social classes. Here we should note that social class is not only determined by income but there are various other factors as well such as: wealth, education, occupation etc.
2. Social Factors
Social factors also impact the buying behavior of consumers. The important social factors are: reference groups, family, role and status.
• Reference Groups
Reference groups have potential in forming a person attitude or behavior. The impact of reference groups varies across products and brands. For example if the product is visible such as dress, shoes, car etc then the influence of reference groups will be high. Reference groups also include opinion leader (a person who influences other because of his special skill, knowledge or other characteristics).
• Family
Buyer behavior is strongly influenced by the member of a family. Therefore marketers are trying to find the roles and influence of the husband, wife and children. If the buying decision of a particular product is influenced by wife then the marketers will try to target the women in their advertisement. Here we should note that buying roles change with change in consumer lifestyles.
• Roles and Status
Each person possesses different roles and status in the society depending upon the groups, clubs, family, organization etc. to which he belongs. For example a woman is working in an organization as finance manager. Now she is playing two roles, one of finance manager and other of mother. Therefore her buying decisions will be influenced by her role and status.
3. Personal Factors
Personal factors can also affect the consumer behavior. Some of the important personal factors that influence the buying behavior are: lifestyle, economic situation, occupation, age, personality and self concept.
• Age
Age and life-cycle have potential impact on the consumer buying behavior. It is obvious that the consumers change the purchase of goods and services with the passage of time. Family life-cycle consists of different stages such young singles, married couples, unmarried couples etc which help marketers to develop appropriate products for each stage.
• Occupation
The occupation of a person has significant impact on his buying behavior. For example a marketing manager of an organization will try to purchase business suits, whereas a low level worker in the same organization will purchase rugged work clothes.
• Economic Situation
Consumer economic situation has great influence on his buying behavior. If the income and savings of a customer is high then he will purchase more expensive products. On the other hand, a person with low income and savings will purchase inexpensive products.
• Lifestyle
Lifestyle of customers is another import factor affecting the consumer buying behavior. Lifestyle refers to the way a person lives in a society and is expressed by the things in his/her surroundings. It is determined by customer interests, opinions, activities etc and shapes his whole pattern of acting and interacting in the world.
• Personality
Personality changes from person to person, time to time and place to place. Therefore it can greatly influence the buying behavior of customers. Actually, Personality is not what one wears; rather it is the totality of behavior of a man in different circumstances. It has different characteristics such as: dominance, aggressiveness, self-confidence etc which can be useful to determine the consumer behavior for particular product or service.
4. Psychological Factors
There are four important psychological factors affecting the consumer buying behavior. These are: perception, motivation, learning, beliefs and attitudes.
• Motivation
The level of motivation also affects the buying behavior of customers. Every person has different needs such as physiological needs, biological needs, social needs etc. The nature of the needs is that, some of them are most pressing while others are least pressing. Therefore a need becomes a motive when it is more pressing to direct the person to seek satisfaction.
• Perception
Selecting, organizing and interpreting information in a way to produce a meaningful experience of the world is called perception. There are three different perceptual processes which are selective attention, selective distortion and selective retention. In case of selective attention, marketers try to attract the customer attention. Whereas, in case of selective distortion, customers try to interpret the information in a way that will support what the customers already believe. Similarly, in case of selective retention, marketers try to retain information that supports their beliefs.
• Beliefs and Attitudes
Customer possesses specific belief and attitude towards various products. Since such beliefs and attitudes make up brand image and affect consumer buying behavior therefore marketers are interested in them. Marketers can change the beliefs and attitudes of customers by launching special campaigns in this regard.

Make a waterproof tv enclosure for the new TV

Now this is a common problem for most people, installing a TV-out on their platform or their "near their backyard pool, let the two points ahead.

is not guaranteed in the era of global warming, the time of day to be the same one that the world comes from snow giant freak weather in Washington DC to high floods in Portugal, destroying everything in its path.

We will focus on three areas that seem the main problem areas for peopleRequirements where a TV and are open;

Time Theft Vandalism forecast.

With the changing climate, a standard TV screen is not up to the snow, sleet or rain, you know what happens if you accidentally spilled coffee on the screen - damaging the wires inside the TV screen not shown.

Then there are the extremes where the sunlight, the LCD crystals cause damage and again to fail the screen.

AYou certainly would not have a home computer and put it out and leave it there - right? Because right now it rains - the damage is done.

The solution should ideally put it in a sealed unit, which has created its own microclimate, so no matter what happens outside of the case, the electronics are kept at their ideal temperature inside the case.

Theft.

Now most of us experience from time to time, if not, just imagine a$ 1,000 TV set in your backyard, what keeps a user access to your backyard early in the morning and steal your TV?

We regularly read that in a recession, as we increase dips, as this crime to feed the family described as slightly sad but true.

Vandalism.

Could be accidental or intentional, but it can happen if your kids do not play ball in the backyard and Johnny in general suggests, the ball hits the screen andScreen will be repaired or replaced, at least.

On the other hand, if you have a dispute with a neighbor, and considers the use of a catapult stones on the fire screen? This also applies to it and to society.

What to do?

Well, if you can afford a TV outside weatherproof to buy it because it offers protection from weather and vandalism, but will not be protected against theft.

The other option is to buy a Outdoor LCD housing, providing an environment that regulates temperature and can be heated or cooled depending on what the weather outside. Some devices have a screen, just before the vandalism, creating glare screen perfectly visible, and screen protection against harmful UV rays. Even the screw on the wall, so the theft is a bit 'difficult, because the thieves just want to destroy and run.

Or, alternatively, could leave the TVunprotected in the backyard and when the children are not damaged, or time, you can really lucky and had it not been stolen from me but I would not risk it - is not it?

How Memory Foam Mattresses Scores Above Coil Spring Mattresses

Memory foam mattress and coil spring mattresses are two major forms of mattresses that are extensively being used to sleep on. However, when the question arises which one is more superior then commonly answer that comes is memory foam mattress. Actually, a memory foam mattress possesses many features, which are not to be found in a coil spring mattress. When we talk about the difference between the two, the first difference that comes out is regarding their durability. A normal coil spring mattress can suffice your purpose for about five years or little more. However, a memory foam mattress can last ten years easily without any compromise and there are some memory foam mattress producers which offer guarantee even up to twenty years.

In addition, promise you comfortable and restful sleep without any compromise. Other property of memory foam mattress that excels it to coil spring mattress is its capability to adjust to the different temperatures. Memory foam mattress can respond to different temperatures of your body and provides you complete sense of coziness. Your body weighs the most and is the warmest part of you and the mattress makes itself softest for your body, whereas your arms and legs are lighter and cooler, so the foam is a little more firm- this is very comfortable, not so much lying on the bed as floating on it! Coil spring mattresses do not have any such feature. They are neither temperature sensitive nor they conform to your body weight. Due to temperature sensitivity of memory foam mattresses, they can no doubt help a person who is confined to bed due to fever and is having high body temperature, while coil spring mattresses do not possess such feature. I think it would not be wrong to say that sleeping on coil spring mattress is like sleeping on rusty nails. Earlier, it was OK as we did not have enough options. However, now this is not the case and mattress market provides you various options.

Another feature of memory foam mattress that coil spring mattress does not have is that it provides gentle total body support. A coil spring mattress forces your body to adjust to the springs. It is like pushing your body. You are pushing the springs down to get comfortable and they push just as hard back –no wonder many people wake up with aching muscles and stiffness. Memory foam mattress moulds itself to your body, because your body exerts its force into it yet your mattress does not push back, it gently accommodates you and your weight. As a result, when you lie on the mattress you feel very relaxed. If you find an opportunity to try these both kinds of mattresses, I am sure you will favor memory foam mattress.

Cleaning Laminate Floor Basics

Though laminate flooring has just recently become a popular, widely available floor covering option in North America, it has been popular in Europe for the past 20 to 30 years.

Laminate flooring is simply a multi-layered; wood based floating floor system offering durability, a wide range of design options, easy maintenance and affordability.

Since the inception of laminate flooring, ease of maintenance has been one of its largest assets. Due to the composition and construction of the product, as well as the extremely hard Aluminum Oxide wear layer, laminate flooring is perhaps the easiest type of flooring to maintain.

Caring for Laminate

General daily maintenance requires vacuuming, sweeping and dust mopping. Brooms should be soft bristled and vacuums should not use beater bars on the floor.

Several cleaning solutions are also available to clean laminate floors (FULLER Labor Saver Floor Cleaner). The cleaner is sprayed onto the mop-head and then the floor is wiped clean.

It is very important that you follow the maintenance schedule of the product you purchase. Ask your retailer or manufacturer on the specifics of maintaining your floor. Virtually all of the warranties require a specific maintenance schedule be followed.

Laminate floors are fade, stain, dent, burn and scratch resistant. However, it is still possible that you may end up with a scratch, nick or dent that will require repair. Laminate flooring is very tough, but it is not bullet proof. If a problem arises, there are a few ways to repair or hide the damage.

Repairs

Major manufacturers and home improvement stores usually have touch up kits available. These kits may include acrylic or latex putty, wax pencils or crayons. This type of repair kit is for small scratches and/or dents. These kits are a very cost effective way of repairing your laminate flooring.

A typical repair of wood laminate flooring includes three basic steps:

1. Clean the affected area

2. Apply putty, wax or crayon

3. Buff the repaired section

The first and most difficult method is to replace the affected board(s). All manufacturers have instructions on "How to replace a board". This will require some tools, patience and skill. You may want to hire a reputable professional for this, if you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable removing part of a floor.

The best way to keep your laminate floor looking its best is to understand its limitations.

· You must follow the maintenance techniques and schedules of the flooring you purchase.

· You should use floor protectors (felt or other) under chairs and other furniture on the flooring.

· You should lift furniture to move it, don’t drag it.

· You should sweep or vacuum daily.

· You should mop with a dust mop, (FULLER D.C. Polisher), regularly

· You should use a cleaner safe for laminate floors on spots as needed

· You should repair scratches and dents soon after they appear

· You should not use water to clean your floors, as water spots will appear

· You should enjoy your laminate floors for years if you follow the advice above.

What to Do with Used Appliance Parts

Environmental concerns nowadays are growing, so it is only right that we have to reuse and use appliance parts that are still functioning properly. In this way, you could even help in lessening the waste around our planet. Learning the proper way of disposing and buying of used appliance parts can save and earn you money as well, also you will greatly contribute something for environmental preservation.
Second-hand or used appliance parts are generally offered over the Internet and in local electrical shops, and typically they are being sold at half the price of the brand new ones. Moreover, it is still better to get brand new appliance parts in some circumstances, just ask your technician about this.
Likewise, it would be good if you are knowledgeable in fixing appliances, you’ll be able to buy and fix the used parts by yourself. But, be wary of some low-quality second hand appliance parts, because you may have to repair them again just after a short period. Make sure to purchase parts only from trusted sources.
Another way to deal with used appliance parts rather than throwing them away is to sell them; you will make money this way. Do this by taking your appliance’s components that are still in good condition then bring them directly to local shops who have a trade in second hand appliance parts or to individual buyers.
In selling them to shops, just bring them in for appraisal and then wait for the shop to purchase it at a minimal amount only since they will resell the parts for profit too.

Importance Of International Trade

International trade is that kind of trade that gives rise to the economy of the world. In this the demand and supply and the prices are affected by the global events. For example, the change in political conditions in Asia can increase manufacturing cost and cost of labor of an American company located in a country in Asia. This would then result in increase in the price of the product that you need to buy from a local mall. If there is a decrease in cost of labor, on the other hand then you may have to pay relatively less amount on the product.

Global trading provides countries and consumers the chance to be exposed to those services and goods that are not available in their own country. Clothes, food, jewelry, stocks, wines, spare parts etc. and many more products are available in international market. Trading of services is also done like: banking, consulting and transportation, tourism. The goods and services that are bought from the global market are called imports and the goods and services that are sold in the overseas market are called exports. Exports and imports are recorded in a country's balance of payments (current account).

International trading lets the developed countries use their resources effectively like technology, capital and labor. As many of the countries are gifted with natural resources and different assets (labor, technology, land and capital), they can produce many products more efficiently sell at cheaper prices than other countries. A country can obtain an item from another country if it cannot effectively produce it within the national boundaries. This is the specialty of international trade. Global trading allows the different countries to participate in global economy encouraging the foreign direct investors. These individuals invest their money in the foreign companies and other assets. Hence the countries can become competitive global participants.

International trading has become very important for every country of the world - be it big or small, developing nation or developed nation. The concept of globalization started way back 1980, developed due advancement of technology in areas transport and communication. Another encouraging aspect is that the poor and developing nations are trying hard to beat the competition and to satisfy the needs of the customers overseas. An increase from less than twenty five percent to eighty percent has been observed after the initiation of globalization. The major contribution is made by the countries like Hungry, China, Mexico, India and Brazil.

Rawlings Sporting Goods A Name to Be Proud Of

Rawlings sporting goods has been tops with me for a long time. As a schoolboy playing baseball in a vacant lot, Chancellor Avenue playground or in Unterman Field in Newark New Jersey I knew I had the best of the best if I had Rawlings to use. Playing baseball and having Rawlings sporting goods went hand and hand with me. If I had Rawlings on my left hand I had the best sporting goods that I could use. I knew that I would have an advantage because of my equipment. I felt great. The world was right for me.

Bill Doak, a pitcher for the St Louis Cardinals had something to say about putting Rawlings on the baseball map. He created a glove that hoisted Rawlings to the top of sporting goods world. I will get back to Bill in a second.

More of my Rawlings story.

If I did not have Rawlings sporting goods to use in a game I somehow felt slighted or I was at a disadvantage. Rawlings gave me confidence when I was a youngster. If I forgot my glove and I had to use someone else's glove and it was not Rawlings, I would look for someone to trade gloves with. I looked for the red Rawlings image they had on their sporting goods. I would go on a lookout to find the red patch of perfection for a Rawlings sporting goods glove.

Back to the Rawlings story

The Rawlings Company was established in 1887 by George and Alfred Rawlings. They opened a sporting goods store in St Louis, Missouri. Rawlings sporting goods hit it big when Bill Doak approached them in 1920. He suggested to Rawlings that a web should be laced between the first finger and thumb. He said it would create a natural pocket. The Bill Doak glove soon replaced all other baseball gloves and is the pattern manufacturing to this day. His most lasting contribution to the sport was for an improved baseball glove. Not his pitching.

Funny how these things happen. I would have thought that some engineer or glove developer would have created the glove. Not a pitcher for the St Louis Cardinals. Who would have thought that Rawlings sporting goods found the spotlight by a baseball player? I guess you can never sell these baseball players short anymore. Now that I think about it. It’s not so far fetched. Who would have developed a glove, a bowler?

Rawlings makes other fine sporting goods besides gloves. Fusion bats, pants and balls are part of the Rawlings product line. There sporting goods are still top of the line to this day. Even Albert Pujols uses Rawlings.

When I watch a game and see one of the Major Leaguers wearing some Rawlings sporting good, I always think how smart he is.

Feel free to pass this article on to anyone you think would enjoy this article.

11 Ways To Convince People To Buy From You

If you're having difficulty selling to potential customers, one problem might be that they don't believe what you're telling them. Would you buy from someone you didn't believe? Probably not. So it's clear that your own credibility is critical to a successful sale.

You have to establish your credibility in the eyes of your potential customer for a successful sale (via person, a sales letter, ad, website, etc.). There are a number of ways to show people that what you say is true and solid.

Out of all of the following suggestions, you can take the ones that you feel can work for you, and put a lot of emphasis on them in your marketing material.

1) Customer and client lists: An excellent way to demonstrate to potential clients how long you've been in business, and how many clients you've served over that period of time. This has to been done carefully because you don't want to infringe on the privacy rights of your customers (so it's wise to ask permission to print their name on your customer list).

2) Length of time in business: Show people you are for REAL, not a fly-by-night, come-and-go business type. Obviously the longer you've been in business, the better. I'm sure you've often seen signs on storefronts saying "Established 1867" or some equivalent. Would you feel more comfortable buying from a well-established business? Probably. They're trying to show you their longstanding business solidity.

3) Past credentials, qualifications, and experience: They establish you as a person who is qualified to discuss with people whatever topic is on hand. For example, what more credibility could come from a person trying to sell you a tennis racket as someone who has won the Wimbledon twice and the U.S. Tennis Open three time times? There's no question in your mind that this person knows what he's talking about when it comes to his product. Or a real estate agent who happens to be an experienced contractor- you'll believe what he says when it comes to houses and what you're getting for your money.

4) Financial references: Commonly used to show people how successful you are in what you do. The number says it all. If you went to a eyeglass store, and there was a sign in there telling you that this little store did $800,000 of business last year, you'd probably think that this store is doing something right in their business. Your logic will tell you that whatever they say you'll believe.

5) A count of the regions/cities/countries that your business serves: What would seem bigger in your eyes- a local vacuum cleaner store selling in a small town or a vacuum cleaner store that services 7 provinces and 3 other countries as well? These numbers can help your credibility.

6) The number of customers served: You can use the now-famous technique that MacDonalds uses- I once passed by one franchise and I saw that MacDonalds now has a tally of 99 BILLION customers served!! The number of customers you have of course ties in with the longevity and reliability of your business.

7) Show someone how good your product is: Show them! Sometimes with products you can do a physical demonstration or a video that displays the actual features and benefits of the products. For example, if you're selling vacuum cleaners, you can make a video commercial of your product sucking up all the garbage from the carpet. If you sell knives, do a demo of how well your knife cuts through plastic or some fruit or vegetable. And so on.

8) Testimonials: Long established as one of the most powerful credibility boosters in the marketing world. Let someone else speak for you! Testimonials come in many forms. Written testimonials can be published. Video or audio testimonials can be played. Photographic testimonials (e.g. If you had numerous photos of you standing beside satisfied customers, that is a great way to show people that you have customers and they believe in you). When you allow other people to speak for you about your product or service, the credibility is always increased by at least a few points.

9) "Story books": A less common, but just as powerful, form of credibility-booster that tell the story of your customer, how they began, how your product or service came into the picture, and how your customer's problems were solved or desired satisfied. The level of detail in the story allows it to rise above the normal 3-sentence testimonial in terms of credibility.

10) Another type of testimonial that are under-exploited are toll-free 800 "eavesdrop lines" to give clients and customers a chance to listen in on what others say about your product or service.

11) And finally, many of the mediums above- writings, audio, and video- for all the different types of credibility boosters can be put online in websites and email attachments.

Once you've established your credibility hopefully beyond doubt, then you will have customers who are ready to hear what you have to say and are more likely to buy your product or hire you for your services.

Ship Charter, Voyage Charter, Time Charter.

Chartering is often a common term associated with shipping. It usually focuses on transporting some of the heaviest of loads and goods to be transported across oceans. There may be different types of charters, which have been used for purposes such as voyage charter and time charter.

The most commonly, which are undertaken under ship chartering by shipping companies, include moving heavy weight goods and cargoes for the heavy industries, the mining industries, road transport and rail vehicles, planes, gas industries, yachts, oil industries, and other loads and bulks. Specially designed containers pertaining to the type of goods offer a greater horizon for shipping companies as they can then manage any type of cargo such as project cargo, bulk cargo, break bulk and it includes heavy lift cargo.

In most cases, a shipping charterer owns good and cargoes. He may then engage a ship broker to deal with the intermediate intricacies. A ship broker's job is to look out for a ship to deliver the charterer's goods for legible rates. This rate is known as the fright rate and varies with per ton or based on the goods loaded and the route taken. Another way of dealing that usually comes with ship chartering is the case when the charterer may not hold any cargo or goods; he may only be interested in hiring a vessel for a stipulated time and then uses that ship for trading purposes.

The deal ensues with a formal contract known as a charter party, which is signed between the charterer and the actual vessel owner with details such as the duration of hire, terms and conditions, and the prices included within. This lets him garner profits when he charges the other charterers an amount greater than the hiring price.

Even with the differences in the markets, there is assured guarantee that ship chartering will hold on with a strong foundation. This is because there is a continuous shift between the linear and the tramp operations. A tramp operation usually includes trading without having a fixed agenda or timetable and without any itinerary guide as opposed to the linear operations. A continued juggling between these two modes of operations often is productive for the customer or client as it ensures a better access to the market trends and rule as a cost effective measure. The best feature offered by the linear method of operations is that it opens a wider geography for operations for the heavy loads and break bulk.

Shipping companies have been levied upon with a number of regulations in order to bring about changes in the economies. Services offered by these shipping companies need to be benchmark and must hold the key to enrich the economy. These companies have used the latest technologies to ease down the differences between the clients and the ship charterers matching them with greater similarity for ship chartering. They usually maintain a charted database, which could be put to use for catering even the most difficult locations for trading purposes. These proceedings have led to increased and easier trades along with greater efficiency and efficacy.

Cabanas Dress Up the Patio

Modern design has made way for some beautiful additions for any outdoor living space. If you spend lots of time entertaining outdoors, a cabana is a wonderful idea. Cabanas have many elements that make them extremely convenient and sheik when used to decorate a patio. A cabana is not simply another piece of patio furniture, but an element that can change the entire look of your outdoor living space.

Cabanas provide an alternative to patio umbrellas, which can be impractical when entertaining many guests. With umbrellas, you can only fit a small number of people under them, and usually everyone must be seated around a table to find relief from the shade. With a cabana, you can set up the furniture in a manner more like an outdoor room. It still provides shade from the sun, and guests are more inclined to spread out and get really comfortable.

Cabanas provide private outdoor space. Many cabanas are equipped with curtains or drapes that can be pulled down when needed. They come in sizes ranging from 8 to 10 feet, which could accommodate any outdoor activity ranging from craft sale, musical performances, even an outdoor masseuse parlor. Whether equipped with screens or curtains, cabanas are a great way to keep out the heat, and any other of natures elements.

For a beach setting, cabanas are a great idea. Most cabanas are equipped with windows and vents that allow for beautiful protection and optimal comfort in the outdoors. Cabanas also have pockets and small storage pouches so you can keep everything you need close at hand. In a smaller size, ranging from 6-8 feet, beach cabanas are the perfect size for a few chaise lounges and a table, the perfect setting for a romantic lay on the beach.

Whatever you choose to use a cabana for, the elegance and practically will leave you impressed, relaxed, and comfortable. Cabanas are made with the finest components, and are easily replaceable, so they are an investment that will last a long time.

Something Cool About Detroit - Eastern Market

I moved to the Detroit Area in 2001. I didn’t know very much about the area, but I heard plenty. Around the nation, haven’t we all?

It wasn’t until 2007 before I heard about one of the coolest places EVER—IN the City of Detroit. I didn’t actually visit the place until 2008.

Where is this place?

Get Your Fruits & Vegetables

I’m talking about Eastern Market. This is a WAY cool place! Really!!!

Eastern Market is a Farmers’ Market—a HUGE one! Every Saturday, there is an area that becomes this transformed area. Roughly, it is two square blocks. Honestly, it might be larger that.

This just accounts for the things “under the tent.” There are all sorts of warehouses and storefronts along the outside area of the tent, too.

As you’d expect from a Farmers’ Market, you can get all sorts of fruits and vegetables.

You can get all sorts of great deals, but it is the variety that sets apart this place.

Later in the day, it’s the deals that make it special. Already, there are lots of great deals, but when the vendors start getting nervous about having to bring home unsold goods, they start slashing prices like they’re dragons, and you benefit.

But I’m a Meat Eater—Not a Fruits & Vegetables Kind of Guy

As you are walking from your parking spot to the main event, you know you’re getting close when you start smelling something. It’s the same smell every time, too.

As you get closer, you start to realize that you’re smelling meat being barbecued on what seems like about 300 feet of grill after grill placed beside each other. Even if you don’t eat meat, that is one of the best smells ever known to man.

Plus, you have Wiggly’s Warehouse of Meats. That’s a horrendous name, but they are known for their great meat.

My favorite, though, is a fish market that also sells sausage and other meats. The best part is the sausage pita sandwiches. You get to pick 2, 3, or more types of sausage that they put in your pita sandwich. These are messy, and, of course, they are so good.

I don’t even really like food all that much!

Besides juices, honey, baked goods, there are all sorts of things that you can buy. There are several stores that, once you’re inside them, remind you of old-time general stores you’d expect to see in a small country town.

Often, you hear music playing. Sometimes, different small bands will play. Other times, you will just hear an amazing percussionist wailing away on his bongos.

How Do Electrical Conductors and Insulators Work?

An electrical conductor and an insulator together work to control the flow of electricity throughout the system. Conductors allow electricity to flow freely between two objects, while insulators protect one item from electrical discharge. If you are planning to install an electrical system in your home, you will need to know the difference between the two devices. You want to identify each when you are preparing to do some wiring.

The Electrical Conductor

The electrical conductor contains a series of movable charges which are turned into electricity upon contact with another electrical source. The conductor allows the electricity to flow from one connection to another, so that if you have a conductor, you have a way of passing electricity through your system. These charges then transfer power to the next available conductor. Most electrical conductors are made from metal, copper being the most common in electrical wires. Copper is the next best conductor after silver, which is not generally used (except as a solder) due to its cost.

Copper is seen as tough and reliable, with a good conductivity and ability to be soldered to other copper without too much damage. Another common metal is aluminum. Although less costly than copper, aluminum has a number of problems, such as corrosion, loosening connections, and the increased risk of electrical fires.

Electrical Insulation

The opposite to a conductor, electrical insulation inhibits the flow of electricity between two points. While conductors carry electricity between two points, insulation prevents the electricity from one object passing into another. For example it will stop electricity flowing between two pieces of wire by keeping the current in one point.

Insulators are often used in combination with conductors to prevent the electricity from moving to a different point from where the electrician wants it to flow. Not all insulators, such as glass and paper, are suitable for wire. Most electrical wiring uses insulators made up of polymers and plastics which, while not ideal, still offer enough insulation to prevent electricity from being discharged.

While insulators are often good enough to keep thousands of volts moving in the right direction, occasionally they suffer from electrical breakdown. Corrosion of the surface means that the insulator can become a resistor, transferring electricity into heat. In order to keep the insulators in check, you should only fit them with the appropriate level of power for that substance. Anything in excess can lead to fires.

Electrical Conductors and Insulators

Most electrical conductors used in home wiring will be wrapped in an insulating material. Before they reach the home, power transmission lines are often bare, but when they come into the home, they will be embedded in plastics or even placed inside ceramic coats. Naked wires can cause fires, so you must protect everything inside the house with its own individual insulation. This insulation only disappears at the power device, when the wire is attached to the connectors.

How does sixth sense technology work?

Whirpool sixth sense technology has been created to make household chores the easiest they can possibly be. The manufacturer has created sixth sense technology to ensure perfect results every time, as well as savings in energy, water and time. It is available on all Whirlpool product types.

Whirlpool sixth sense products give you real assistance in storing and cooking your food, washing and drying your clothes and cleaning your dishes. It makes all kitchen tasks as easy, pleasurable and time efficient as possible.

Whirlpool sixth sense technology allows you to take advantage of special sensors to continuously monitor and automatically adjust the performance of your kitchen appliances, offering outstanding results and significant resource savings.

So how does sixth sense technology work in the different kitchen appliances?

Washing machines - in Whirlpool washing machines the intelligent sixth sense technology sensors firstly measure the load size. Secondly, they will adjust the water, the temperature and the time in order to save energy and natural resources (and your utility bills!). After this the machine continues to monitor and adjust the programme to ensure perfect results and maximum efficiency. Running a sixth sense cycle on your machine can save you up to 30 per cent of energy on a normal wash.

Tumble dryers - sixth sense technology works in dryers by constantly measuring the humidity level in your clothes through dedicated sensors. It automatically adjusts the drying cycle to finish when your clothes are done, saving time and energy. Sixth sense dryers will safely dry extremely delicate fabrics and will even work when the load contains mixed fibre types, ensuring soft, optimal drying.

Fridges and freezers - in this case Whirlpool sixth sense technology maintains the best storage temperatures for your food and only cools when it is necessary which improves the energy efficiency of the appliance. These fridge freezers also detect temperature changes after the door has been opened. It directs chilled air into the affected zones and restores temperatures five times faster than a Whirlpool fridge without sixth sense technology.

The Whirlpool WSC5533AX American fridge freezer is just one example of sixth sense technology in a fridge freezer.

Also in the Whirlpool sixth sense cooling products you have the benefit of the multiflow ventilation system. This is a "total no frost" system which circulates chilled air around the freezer's storage areas, reducing humidity and preventing the formation of ice. You guessed it...that means no more defrosting! This system blows chilled air around the interior of the fridge to ensure perfect conditions throughout.

Making Your Home Energy Efficient Adds Up To Big Savings

Government statistics report that conserving energy costs in the home can save a household several hundred, even several thousand, dollars per year on their utility bills. Replacing your older appliances and elements of your home’s structure, such as older windows and doors, with more energy-efficient alternatives, such as products that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines, is an important step to maximizing the amount of money you can save.

ENERGY STAR is a government program that identifies products – including appliances, home electronics, and home improvement products – that meet energy efficiency guidelines that exceed the minimum federal standards, as determined by the U.S. Department of Energy. You can identify a product that meets the organization’s guidelines by looking for the signature blue ENERGY STAR logo.

The ENERGY STAR program began as a voluntary labeling tool to "identify and promote energy-efficient products to reduce greenhouse gas emissions." It started with the labeling of computers and monitors and more than a decade later, has expanded to identify all types of products used in homes and offices that conserve energy. The result: Consumers and businesses have saved billions of dollars since the program began – $12 billion in 2005 alone.

Energy-efficient appliances – such as refrigerators and freezers, clothing washers, dishwashers, dehumidifiers and window air conditioning units – can cut consumer utility bills in half when compared with standard models. And home improvement products with an ENERGY STAR rating – such as vinyl replacement windows, doors, skylights and siding – help to better maintain your home’s temperature control, cutting heating and cooling costs anywhere from $20 to $400 per year.

If you’ve been searching for a product in any one of the more than 40 categories rated by ENERGY STAR, you may have come across the organization’s blue logo. That seal of approval indicates that the item can perform as well as, or better than, comparable products, but save you more money than if you purchased a less energy-efficient option.

A refrigerator meeting ENERGY STAR’s energy conservation guidelines today: Uses 40% less energy than models sold in 2001, saves its owner 15% in energy costs when compared with other models (freezers save 10%) and compact models, with volumes less than 7.75 square feet, save 20%. A washing machine that meets ENERGY STAR guidelines: Saves its owner up to $110 per year, requires 50% less energy than standard washing machines, uses up to 50% less water and has more efficient spinning cycles to reduce drying time.

Energy-efficient appliances provide an obvious cost savings for a household’s energy expenses. And other products that meet ENERGY STAR standards, such as vinyl replacement windows, doors, skylights and siding, make a significant contribution to keeping those costs down as well. Replacing your existing windows and siding with newer, better designed vinyl replacement windows and insulated siding can quadruple the insulation value of your home and save an average of 30% on your utility bills.

In addition to saving money, vinyl replacement windows with this rating create a more comfortable living environment by eliminating drafts, blocking heat, Offering protection from sun damage and reducing interior condensation on windows. In the winter, energy-efficient vinyl replacement windows keep the interior glass warmer for better temperature control. And the warmer the window, the less interior condensation that, over time, can damage your window sill and paint job, and encourage mold growth.

In the summer, these windows also block 45 to 70% of the sun’s heat and provide "sunscreen" to your home by blocking ultraviolet light that can reduce fading up to 75% without compromising visible light.

Whether you are looking to add to the beauty of your home and lower your energy bills by installing vinyl replacement windows, or you want to make a smart decision when choosing your next dishwasher or window air conditioning unit, products that meet ENERGY STAR guidelines offer an economical alternative that leaves more money in your pocket.

Do You Have the Right Kind of Renters Insurance?

Many people are oblivious to the fact that they have insufficient renters insurance to replace their personal possessions in the result of a disaster or legal proceedings. They may perhaps sleep easy at night assuming that they are fully covered against future occurrences, but will be unpleasantly stunned when an unanticipated event happens and demolishes their complete nest egg. It's not good enough to merely buy renters insurance online that will cover the property replacement price.

Generally speaking, landlords possess insurance that protects the tangible apartment or home itself, but do not have insurance against any loss or damage that might happen to a renter's possessions. Additionally, they typically do not have insurance that will cover damage by a tenant to the apartment or home that is being rented. It is crucial to purchase your own renter's insurance if you want to be fully protected.

Renters insurance covers damages or loss for explicitly named risks to your possessions when you rent a home or apartment rather than own. It can protect your possessions against burglary, fire, vandalism, flooding, earthquake, or a liability lawsuit. Regrettably, many people assume their landlord has insurance policies that will cover lost or damaged personal possessions, or believe that any and all renters insurance policies will routinely cover these items. If you want to be covered for all possible calamities you should know several issues about getting renters insurance online.

Typical renter's insurance, often known as tenant insurance, will typically cover things like loss or damage from theft, fire damage from defective electrical wiring, explosions, smoke, vandalism, electrical surge damage, water-related damage from plumbing problems or home appliance malfunctions, weather-related damage, and other potential hazards.

Renter's insurance policies will usually reimburse for damages up to the highest amount of policy limits for material goods such as clothing, furniture, electronic equipment, computer paraphernalia, and to some degree jewelry, silverware, and other high-priced objects. Unfortunately, not all policies will cover every item or every cause of loss. It's a good idea that you specifically mention to your agent all of your property that you want fully covered so these specific items can be integrated into the policy if they do not come standard.

A good number of people take too lightly the worth of their personal property and buy an insufficient amount of coverage for replacement due to the fact that they undervalue their property. If someone buys a TV for $1,300 it may be worth just $300 after a few years. When obtaining renter's insurance you typically want to insure your material goods for their replacement value and not their current worth. In this situation you would want to get insurance protection that will be enough to replace your high-priced TV set which may now cost a lot more than it did when you purchased it.

In addition to obtaining renters insurance for replacing objects that were broken, ruined, or stolen, you need to consider obtaining liability insurance. This kind of insurance will protect you if someone visiting your home gets hurt. You can buy a policy that will cover your visitor's medical expenses along with any legal expenses or compensation that can sometimes arise should you be sued. Without this kind of protection there is a possibility that you could lose your entire assets including savings accounts (nest eggs), stocks, bonds, and other items.

It is quite simple to obtain renters insurance online that will supply you with good coverage for less than $20 each month, so there is almost no reason to place yourself in jeopardy of losing thousands of dollars since the cost of coverage is so small. Buying coverage that can shield you in case of a disaster is a very small price to pay for the peace of mind it will bring you.

How to Cut Duty Cost and Increase Profit as an Importer

Import duties continue to be significant elements in the cost of international trade. Yet many companies and businesses still pay more duties than the law requires – which impacts adversely on landed cost and ultimately on business profitability. A planned approach to managing customs duty costs would look to eliminate, reduce and delay payment of customs duties.

How to reduce customs duties in your business

There are many ways to reduce customs duties. The amount of duties paid depends on four “whats”. Managing the impact of any of these “whats”, will improve business profit.

1 What the goods are, (i.e. their nature and characteristics) determines tariff code and therefore the duty rate

2 What the origin of the goods is, (i.e. where dug up, grown, farmed, further manufactured or processed NOT just shipped from) determines whether preferential, standard or additional duties are payable

3 What the structure of the transaction is (i.e. whether sale, leased, loaned, free of charge, under warranty or repair arrangement), determines customs value

4 What happens to the goods once imported (i.e. sold, further manufactured, repaired and returned, stored and re-exported) determines whether various reliefs are available.

How to use a key opportunity in customs valuation planning

A major under utilised approach to reducing duties is to look at the customs valuation. A key provision in both US and EU customs law permits the customs value to be based on any earlier sale of the same goods in a chain of transactions prior to importation. For this reason it is variously described as the “prior sale”, “earlier sale” or “chain of sales” opportunity. They all mean the same thing, i.e. lower duty!

How does this work? For example, if goods are sold by a manufacturer in the US for $60 to a US export company which, in turn, sells them to an importer in the EU for $100, duty can be paid on a value of $60, providing certain conditions are met. The savings achieved are the difference between duty on the £100 and the duty on $60. Savings of up to 40% on the duty costs are possible.

What are the benefits? The chief benefit of the approach is to save customs duty by excluding the costs and profits attributable to the non-manufacturing activities undertaken in the country of export from the customs value declared at import in the destination country (US or EU).

The approach also uncouples the value of the imported goods for customs valuation purposes from their inventory value for corporate income tax purposes. That’s good because tax and customs values are often in tension. Tax authorities tend to favour a low import value (i.e. more profit to tax), whereas customs favour a higher import value (more import duty to collect.) Using an earlier sale approach, the price paid by the importer is no longer relevant for customs purposes, so that any increase in that price will not cause an increase in the amount of customs duty.

Who can benefit? Any company or business importing goods into the EU or US can benefit from the opportunity providing there has been an earlier sale and the exporter is willing to provide the relevant invoice relating to the earlier sale. Since this involves disclosure of margins by the exporter, the approach is more attractive to international groups of companies where such disclosure is not an issue and to industries where margins are already widely known. However, exporters can still realise the benefits by importing goods into the US and EU on their own account.
